Hasan Mahmood

Mr. Hasan Mahmood is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Bandarban University. He embarked on his university teaching career more than a decade ago and has since devoted himself to teaching, learning, research, and academic scholarship. Over the years, his journey in higher education has been marked by a deep commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a meaningful engagement with literature and knowledge.
He completed both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in English at the University of Dhaka, one of the country’s leading institutions of higher education. His academic journey at the University of Dhaka provided him with a strong foundation in English language, literature, and critical thought.
Inspired by his father, a dedicated teacher, Mr. Hasan followed in his footsteps and embraced teaching as a lifelong vocation. He also descends from a family of freedom fighters, a heritage that has contributed to his sense of responsibility, values, and commitment to society.
He has published and presented research papers at academic forums and has participated in various seminars, conferences, and professional development programmes. His scholarly work reflects an interdisciplinary approach that brings literary studies into dialogue with cultural, historical, philosophical, and social perspectives.
His academic and research interests include American Literature, Postcolonial Studies, Gender Studies, Literary and Cultural Theory, Identity and Otherness, and Comparative Literature. His research explores the intersections of literature, culture, history, power, and identity through interdisciplinary approaches.
A true lover of nature, Mr. Mahmood finds particular joy in teaching literature in the lap of nature at Bandarban, where the surrounding hills and natural beauty provide an inspiring environment for literary thought and reflection. He believes that literature becomes more meaningful when connected with life, nature, and human experience. He maintains a simple and idealistic way of life and remains dedicated to teaching, research, and the intellectual and moral development of his students.
