Seminar on Power, People, and Protest: A Parallel Reading of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and the July Uprising (2024) in Bangladesh

A literary seminar titled "Power, People, and Protest: A Parallel Reading of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and the July Uprising (2024) in Bangladesh" has been organized by the Department of English, Bandarban University today (08.11.2025/Saturday) at 11.00 am at the University Conference Room.

Reverend scholar Professor Mah-e-nur Qudsi Islam, Chairman, Department of English, University of Chittagong presented her speech on the title as the Keynote speaker.

Participated by the students of the department of English the seminar was presided over by Mr. Sohrab Hossain, Lecturer and Co-ordinator of the Department. Teachers of the department, Mr. Hasan Mahmood and Ms. Pranami Barua were present as discussants. Started with the introduction the seminar was followed by the keynote speech, a discussion session and ended with a question-answer session.

The seminar is expected to flourish the knowledge of literary connection with the contemporary sociopolitical aspects of Bangladesh and provide the students with the opportunity to question, think and create their own world of literary and sociopolitical thought.
